A Liquid Cooling Unit (LCU) is an active thermal management system essential for high-power EV charging, enabling continuous 500-1200A currents by replacing inadequate air cooling. It circulates dielectric fluid (e.g., dimethyl silicone oil) from a reservoir through pumps at 8.5L/min @500Kpa to directly absorb heat from live conductors, terminals, and power electronics within hollow charging cables. This heated coolant transports thermal energy via sealed piping to an aluminum fin-tube Coolant Heat Exchanger Unit, where forced-air convection dissipates heat before recooled fluid returns. Real-time PT1000 sensors feed data to an intelligent control unit that dynamically adjusts flow rates and fan speeds via PWM signals, predicts thermal surges, and throttles current if temperatures exceed 90°C – achieving critical thermal stability with <200ms response times.
